Tattoo

I'm reflecting on the warmth of your skin
where I'd once dared to touch
the smoothness of your tender flesh
I'd longed to touch so much
Oh to trace my finger now
along the ridge of your hip
tracing the curve so gently
that I fear my hand might slip
And if I should dare to linger
at the tip of that scorpion tail
Would it be unforgivable
if my inhibitions were to fail
If I might choose to go in closer
just to get a better look
Mapping out its curve and color
to study it like a book
Then to close my eyes and listen
to what song a scorpion sings
testing it with all my senses
just to know what joy it brings
I would press my lips against it gently
pressing firmer ever so
Working my way from the tail
just to see where it will go
Maybe that would tell me
but it might not be enough
My lips as soft as they are warm
Still may be too rough
Then I may need a softer kiss
just so I could feel
to touch you best as I know how
and know that it is real
With my tongue I'd trace the scorpions head
Just as closely as I can
Trying to tell where he ends
and where begins the man
Such pleasure I would take in tasting you
Oh the salty joy of skin
And from such explorations
what adventures could begin
Then maybe there is wisdom
to only breathing in your scent
Letting the fleeting moments pass
until we're uncertain where they went
