Surrender

Sometimes you forget who I am
how I get stubborn beyond all reason
The fight that shouldnt last a night
stretches through another season

Still you seem to take for granted
that you can always win me back
and the only thing I ever knew I had
is the resolution I now lack

Just the touch of your hand
and enemy becomes defender
I exchange all my battle plans
for a white flag of surrender

It seems to come to you so easy
You always know which words to say
Nevermind that Im drowning in a tempest
and Im sure Ive lost my way

When the whole thing overwhelms me
but Im sure youve crossed the line
Then you tell me that youre sorry
Now Im sure the fault is mine

Just one word from your lips
and I feel to weak to render
all the angry things I meant to say
before you led me to surrender

So I stomp my feet and dig in my heels
Because I know this isnt fair
I used to be so strong and safe
and now youve stripped me bare

Im as sure that you are wrong
as I am sure that Im right
and though it makes no sense
Im sure youll win the fight

Just one look in your eyes
and all hardness is gone tender
I try to prove that Im unbeatable
but Im yearning to surrender
